Summers are synonymous with activities and camps. But when it comes to avid readers, they do not even wait for the summer holidays to begin. In this spirit, Shalini Nayyar, an educator, has organised an ongoing book club for the AOH children.
Called the Cliffhangers Book Club, it takes place on weekends, from 3:30 to 5 PM, at our clubhouse. Its aim is to encourage young readers to discover the world of books. For them, it is the highlight of their week as book lovers come together for lively conversations and shared literary adventures.
Beyond book reading, there are also activities and games to make books and reading fun. For a few of the kids, the Cliffhangers Book Club was an introduction into the joys of reading. They have gotten so hooked that they are now committed to reading daily!
The Cliffhangers Book Club members have also pledged to convert their friends too into book lovers!
Let’s hear it from the kids themselves about the experiences.
Ishanvi says, “In addition to discussing books, we also enjoy book – themed games in our meetings which add excitement and deepen our connection to the stories and authors we admire.”
Raadhya says, “With themed discussions and creative challenges, every meeting is an unforgettable experience. I’m learning a lot.”
Samaira is effusive in her praise. “I cherish every moment I spend at Cliffhangers and will remember it until I die.
”Devansh says, “Reading became a habit for me as I went on a journey to explore with the Cliffhangers Book Club. I think it is an amazing place to be, if you aspire to be a bookworm so free!”
Tvisha says, “The Cliffhangers Book Club gives me a platform to be myself and broaden my creative ability. It takes me to a whole new world full of learning, games, creativity and challenges.”
As an avid book lover myself, unfortunately an adult, I can see how the Cliffhangers Book Club would be a magical place!
