In our Sector, a new form of theft has emerged, disturbing the peace of the residents. While car thefts and home robberies were once the primary concern, the residents now grapple with an increasing trend of theft by domestic helps.
A recent incident at House C-44 that belongs to Lakshmi Aggarwal, was very concerning. In this case, a maid was discovered pilfering cash from her employer’s residence.
One proactive measure suggested by concerned residents is the public disclosure of individuals caught engaging in theft, especially on Sector whatsapp groups. By openly naming and shaming those who betray the trust placed in them, the community can collectively raise awareness and deter potential perpetrators. This approach serves as a warning to others.
Furthermore, residents must implement more strict security measures within their houses, including the installation of surveillance cameras, thorough background checks for domestic helpers, and keep open communication with household staff.
