Wanted to highlight an incident that took place recently. Subashini Sood, a resident of C block, was confounded on her return home from an errand recently on finding several Kathals growing on her kathal tree in her front garden missing. She said, “To my surprise, 4/5 Kathals have been stolen from the tree inside my home. My caretaker had stepped out for a bit when this incident took place. Apparently, some boys from Kotla are behind this. But what is really shocking is that it happened in broad daylight around noon. I am trying to check in the CCTV camera whether they entered the gate & came in or did it standing on the boundary wall . I even called the beat constable who was busy with the election duty & requested me to check camera & let them know .”
She added, “I wish they had rung my bell & asked me for the Kathal. I would have happily given them one.”
Yes the security breach is worrisome. I have a high wall , caretaker and even a barbed wire on the back boundary wall.”
On checking her CCTV cameras, it was later found out that apparently a group of young school boys probably from Kotla had brazenly climbed the front garden wall at 1.30 afternoon while the lady was out and no guards around, to steal the hanging kathal fruit. Days later the same boys were caught by a neighbour throwing stones at their dog and were chased as they fled away. Another alert resident also noticed the same group roaming aimlessly around the colony with a suspicious intent and was also chased away. Though in this case a police complaint was registered by the lady however the police expressed their inability to take any action since the boys were minors. Is it not imperative for the police that parents of the children be summoned, informed and warned appropriately before such mischievous acts of breach of security to residents turn into a habit of petty crimes by the minors?
