The Executive Committee of B3 RWA Vasant Kunj hosted on the 77th India Independence Day, Veer Nari Devanti Devi (W/o Late NK Shivji Singh, 218 Med. Regiment, who attained Martyrdom in counter-insurgency ops, Operation Rakshak in J&K, 2003), to do the honours of Flag Hoisting under Project Jai Veer. She was also joined by her practicing doctor son, Dr Manu.
Project Jai Veer is a collaborative campaign initiative of the Gandhian Seva & Satyagraha Brigade and War Widows Association with the objective to enlighten and instill within the civil society a deep sense of respect for the supreme and selfless sacrifice of our Bravehearts, who laid down their lives defending the unity and integrity of our Nation, by inviting the Veer Naris (the wives/mothers of our Martyrs) to hoist the National Flag on the Independence/Republic Day.
The 77th India Independence Day celebration was held at the lavish green ornamental Gazebo Park, fully decked up for the occasion with tricolor flags, balloons and flowers, attended by a huge gathering of residents of B3 and also of the neighbouring colonies. The celebration started off with the customary ‘Dil Mein Tiranga’ ritual of presenting National Flag Lapel Pins to all present. The President of the B3 RWA, Dr. G.S. Yadava addressed the gathering touching upon all topical issues facing the Nation and was then joined by Mrs. Neetu Malik to warmly welcome the Guest of Honour, Veer Nari Smt. Devanti Devi and his son, Dr. Manu, who were then accompanied and assisted by the Joint Secretary, Dr Sowesh Pattanaik, inunfurling the National Flag followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. Veer Nari, Smt. Devanti Devi also spoke, sharing the trials and tribulations of her life as a proud wife of a Martyr and a brave mother.
The Secretary (Admn), OP Verma offered profound thanks to the Veer Nari and family for gracing the Flag Hoisting Ceremony and all present for joining the celebrations.
