hikha Rai, who won the most tough seat of MLA elections from Greater Kailash constituency was honored by PERA ,PERWA, RAM MANDIR COMMITTEE & LADIES ASSOCIATION of Panchsheel Enclave collectively on 2nd March. An advocate by profession and a dedicated worker of BJP since very long, is treated as a daughter and a sister of the residents of Panchsheel Enclave. Her share of votes was highest from our colony. She expressed her gratitude for that honour. The speakers from all institutions congratulated and praised her. They also expressed their expectations from the residents and the requirements as a colony.
Seeing her busy schedule, I had a telephonic conversation with her. Here are the excerpts:
Q: Your top three priorities as an MLA
A: . My top three priorities for my constituency are:
To solve sewage water problems.
Repair of potholed roads.
GK-2 entry issue.
Q. There are a lot of traffic jams on BRT road and people enter our colony from Gk-1 crossing and Chirag Delhi especially at peak hours. A U-turn, which was there earlier, needs to be re-opened to give some relief to the residents.
A: I assure you I will take up the matter with the traffic authorities.
Q: How, as citizens, can we actively participate in good governance?.
A: She impressed on the co-operation of the citizens of Delhi, more so the residents of the colonies to be responsible too in getting the work of cleaning done from the workers. There’s a need for civic sense by keeping our surroundings clean, as we do for our houses, not spilling on the roads, and paying regular subscription to RWAs to let them work efficiently. The authorities will do their duties. We as citizens too need to have civic sense, if we want to make our city as one of the world class cities.
I concluded my conversation with a thank-you for taking out her valuable time and wished her the best in social endeavours.
