The Teej festival was celebrated with joyous enthusiasm and fervour on Sunday August 20 by Mahagun Maple ladies .
The ‘shringar’ of the ladies fabulous classic ethnic clothes, matching jewelry & glowing faces were a joy to behold. But if you think that it was only the beauty that was mesmerizing , you are in for a surprise! The melodious ‘saavan ‘ songs, the graceful folk dances – the list of performances showcasing the immense talent we have in our midst was long.
The event was made all the more remarkable because the age of the performers ranged from teenagers to ladies in their seventies- truly proving the saying that age is just a number- it’s your attitude that defines you.
Mouth watering piping hot snacks served alongside added flavor & zing to the function.
The dancing was followed by a couple of indoor games & the inevitable round of Tambola. This was followed by a “ramp walk” – the super models of the colony, in all their finery, had a field day gliding & pirouetting down the ramp to enthusiastic clapping.
The festivities ended with a classic lunch menu of kachori sabzi, dahi bara , pulao, & yummy gulab jamuns – truly a fitting finale.
It was a grand event, organized & compered with excellence, & enjoyed in full, with positivity & bonhomie – truly how a festival should be celebrated.
