Tale of Two Kitties Continues

As more and more people began to eye them, Meowth and family disappeared from that spot, much to the dismay and sadness of my son, “We should have gotten them inside! It is all our fault!” “They are wild cats, how can you accommodate them indoors?” I tried to justify, “And don’t you know people say, they change 7 homes when their babies are growing up?”

“That’s so weird mom, why would she do that?” However, Mr. Sherlock set out once again, putting all clues together, he did finally manage to find Meowth and the babies in our neighbour’s house, neatly tucked away in a corner, near the uninhabited basement. They were all safe and that is what mattered!

“They are fine,” he chirped, “but we have to be more careful henceforth”. Meowth, the feeding mom, was fed well by the kids, and in turn, she happily suckled her own, and gradually they grew bigger and opened their eyes and began to wobble and trot around. They were indeed adorable and a joy to watch. As our joy grew, so did our duties!

“Mom, they are lying in a dirty corner, can I go spread a little cushion and some soft fabrics to comfort them please?”

“Oh hello!! They are wild animals, they love grass and mud. What do they know about soft linen?” I asked. “You know nothing…,” he screamed and stormed out of the house, sneaking away with a cushion and some of his soft organic cotton T-shirts!! “Okay, do what you like!” I shouted, knowing how things work here in India! By evening, the comfy T-shirts had disappeared from the spot…probably someone more needy and eligible than the cats had taken them! And the cats back to rolling in the dirt-stricken floor. Don’t know if cats change 7 houses, but she sure carried her kittens from one house to another at least 6 times!! To be continued…
