On the night of May 10th, a big, blazing fire broke out near the transformer enclosure located at Chiranjive Park’s transformer. The Fire Department was informed immediately as it was hazardous for the nearby houses too. Upon inspection, it was found out that the fire originated from the heaps of dry leaves and debris that had accumulated near it. The firefighters controlled it and extinguished it before it could turn into worse, damaging the human lives and property owned by the individuals, in the concerned area.
It is dampening to notice that despite repeated reminders and complaints from the community regarding the maintenance of the transformer enclosure, no adequate measures were taken up. Some had asked DHBVNL to ensure the cleanliness and safety of its infrastructure. The suggestion though seems farcical as even if the staff of DHBVN would take care of the enclosure, there is enough debris all around that is neglected by the residents which would get accumulated again at the enclosure and thus would become the cause. If we take care of the environment and keep the surroundings clean, such incidents could be avoided. Meanwhile, the blame game is on as we do not know what would happen in future!
