Surinder Dhir’s story is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of advocacy. As a wheelchair user and avid traveler, Surinder has turned his per-sonal challenges into a mission for change, striving to make tourism and travel more inclusive for individuals with disabilities. Having driven over 500,000 kilometers across India in his customized car, his love for driving serves as both a passion and a platform for raising awareness about accessibility.
His current expedition spans 6000 km, covering 12 states, starting from Delhi -NCR in the north, crossing Rajasthan, M.P, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, A.P, Telangana and back from there. Having flagged off the ceremony on the 14th of December, 2024, Surinder and the team took off on the 15th from the 32nd Milestone in Gurgaon. After a night’s halt in Goa, the team is now on its way back from Rameshwaram, expecting to reach back by the 3rd of January 25.
Through his extensive travels, Surinder has encountered numerous barriers, from hotels lacking ramps to inaccessible public spaces. These challenges have inspired him to collaborate with local businesses and government officials to push for infrastructure that accommodates diverse needs. His vision is clear: a future where every individual, regardless of physical ability, can experience the joy of travel.
Surinder’s efforts go beyond advocacy; they seek to educate the public on the importance of inclusivity and highlight the ease with which small adjustments can transform lives. By sharing his experiences and working tirelessly for change, Surinder Dhir is not just reshaping the travel industry—he’s championing a movement for a more accessible and compassionate society.
