Suncity Withstands Tremors Of Recent Religious Disturbance

Religion is a topic that is rarely touched on as it’s a very personal and sensitive topic. A discussion on religion can cause friction in social etiquette. Praising one’s own religion, its practices, and its traditions can lead a person of another religion to believe that his religion and beliefs are being called secondary and automatically puts him on his defence.

Sometimes a comment changes to a discussion, a discussion to an argument that makes someone angry and resentful. No one is wiser and everyone is miserable. Could we please be wiser and patient and more accommodating to our family, friends and community to make it a happier and comfortable place to live in?

Living in Suncity is like living in true secular India. Every religion is respected, every community is given breathing space and every festival is celebrated. In two years of living in Suncity I have attended Sukhmani sahib path, Gurujis satsang, Navratri Puja, Dussehra Celebration, Diwali fun, Gurpurab Celebration, Brahma Kumari’s congregation and I have seen in certain groups, if a prejudiced opinion was aired they were politely thwarted.

During the recent disturbing times, I know of a locality in Gurgaon where households were approached to remove domestic help from a particular community but here in Suncity nothing of this sort has happened. I find Suncity not only religious but also if I may, ‘so religiously correct’.

If we Indians can land on the heart of the moon and be so proud of ourselves then let’s try and land in each other’s hearts and be proud to be respectful and responsible to all religions.
