Nurturing Talents, Creating a Path to Success
Tucked away in a serene corner of Friends Colony East, a summer camp organised by Ishya was making a profound difference in the lives of underprivileged children. The Summer Camp served
as a vibrant hub of creativity and self-expression, empowering young individuals through a diverse range of artistic mediums. This exclusive camp, designed for girls aged 12-18, commenced on May 22 and concluded on June 10.
Located within the premises of Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya, this camp unveiled a world of boundless possibilities for these resilient children who have triumphed over numerous challenges. Guided by dedicated teachers and mentors, the camp introduced participants to the transformative power of art, crafts, dance, and theatre. We are proud to have enrolled 90 girls in this exceptional camp.
During the art workshops, the children immersed themselves in a realm of vivid colours and animated brushes, exploring the limitless boundaries of their imagination. Under the expert guidance of talented artists, they discovered the sheer joy of self-expression by creating artwork that reflects their dreams and aspirations for a brighter future.
Craft sessions provided a sanctuary where discarded materials find new purpose and are reborn as precious treasures. With the support of experienced mentors, the children unlocked the power of innovation and resourcefulness, learning to appreciate the beauty that resides even within the simplest objects.
Under the mentorship of trained dance teachers, the dance workshops come alive with enchanting melodies and graceful movements. Through an array of dance styles, the girls not only acquired dance skills but also developed unwavering self-confidence and a profound means of personal expression.
In the Yoga and Kathak workshops, we invited trained professionals to provide guidance and sessions for the girls, allowing them to immerse themselves in the traditional Indian culture and learn these essential arts.
We also partnered with Team Baala, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness about menstruation among adolescent girls in rural areas. They organized an informational workshop on period awareness for the girls and provided reusable sanitary products as well.
In the theatre workshops, guided by professional and passionate thespians, the children stepped onto a stage that became their haven. Engaging in role-playing and scriptwriting, they delved deep into emotions and narratives that echo their own experiences, discovering the transformative power of storytelling.
