From young mothers, last week, came across interesting conversation on how their kids are talking about the latest in computer language. They look forward and exchange their ideas on what they have been taught that day. Taru Bhargava (EH1/102) a young mother and a passionate technologist was taking online coding classes, especially curate for the little children. As each year, at this time, she organised Coding Summer Camp which was not only enriching for kids but for herself too.
In this summer camp kids, from age 9 to14 years, joined the online Coding Summer Camp to embark on an exciting journey of coding. During the 3 weeks camp of total 15 hours, 20 May to 07 June, they learnt much to work on it later, on their own.
Game Development and Animations with Scratch made them create interactive games and animations. This hands-on experience fostered creativity and logical thinking through fun, visual programming.
Lessons on Advanced Logic Building with Python will let them tackle more complex challenges using Python. The young coders developed projects that enhanced their problem-solving skills and deepened their understanding of programming logic.
The camp also introduced database management using MS Access. Kids learned to organize, store, and retrieve data, gaining valuable skills in data management.
The Coding Summer Camp successfully equipped these young learners with essential coding skills and ignited a passion for technology, setting them on a path to becoming future innovators.
The enthusiasm with which the children attended, said a mother – “These classes are the only ones that my son is most excited about and doesn’t crib for. Thank you so much. He loved your classes and you taught with so much patience you’re brilliant!”
Another mother said – “She taught my son Scratch and he is in love with it. Last year also he learned computer basics from her and he was eagerly waiting for the classes this year too.”
(Many more Summer Camps to engage children creatively were held in Utopia. We would like other organizers too to share the joy of these classes. We will include them next month.)
