Indore (MP), February 23, 2025 – Sumit Nagpal(A 101,sector 30), partnered by Sameer Sahni, delivered a dazzling performance to secure the gold medal in the 40+ Men’s Doubles category at the 31st National Masters Table Tennis Tournament, hosted at AbhaY Prashal Indoor Stadium in Indore from February 17th to 23rd, 2025.
The Delhi duo’s exceptional synergy and teamwork were on full display throughout the tournament, as they effortlessly glided through their matches, achieving resounding victories. Their winning streak began with a convincing 3-0 triumph over Maharashtra, followed by another decisive 3-0 win against Karnataka. In their third match, they once again asserted their dominance over Karnataka, securing a 3-0 victory.
However, their quarterfinal encounter against Karnataka proved to be a nail-biting experience, with Sumit and Sameer emerging victorious after a hard-fought 3-2 battle. The semifinal saw them pitted against the CAG team, where the duo continued their impressive run, sealing a comprehensive 3-0 victory. In the final showdown, they faced another CAG team, but their excellence shone through, as they clinched the gold medal with a resounding 3-0 triumph.
Sumit Nagpal’s remarkable journey is a testament to his unwavering passion and dedication to the sport. Despite not being a sports quota player, Sumit has established himself as a top contender in Indian veterans’ table tennis. His table tennis journey began in 2011, with casual games at sports complexes. Over time, his love for the game grew, and he started practising more seriously. Under the expert guidance of the Indian Table Tennis Academy (ITTA) at the Noida Stadium, Sumit has achieved numerous prestigious awards in Indian veterans’ table tennis.
