Environmental sustainability is the way forward to a better future for all of us and a progressive society prepares for a better tomorrow by making judicious and timely decisions. Suncity as a community has taken another critical step towards being an environmentally sustainable society that uses its water resources with utmost care.
STP water is reusable water sourced from the Sewage Treatment Plant that can be used in gardens and parks. Having an STP will have all of us contributing to a more sustainable world by not letting polluted water enter the water bodies. We will also be able to reuse huge amounts of waste water thus reducing the consumption of potable water considerably, in keeping our parks green.
Earlier there was an STP water supply restricted to a few parks. With years of relentless efforts of the team SRWA in getting the file processed, there will be STP water supply ensured for many more parks in Suncity. The construction work of the tank has already started and will be soon followed by STP pipeline extension work.
STP water is rich in nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. If this effluent is allowed to flow into water bodies it causes excessive algal growth, creating murky green water thus aggravating water pollution. On the other hand, if this water is utilized for watering the plants in our parks it will fulfil the macronutrient requirement of plants resulting in lush green gardens. The use of STP water will have a positive impact on the soil structure, soil fertility, nutrient availability, and overall plant growth.
Team SRWA surely deserves applause for such an exemplary step. We look forward to many more such initiatives taken to make Suncity a sustainable society.
