Apartment Owners Association, Stellar Kings Court, like every year, celebrated New Year 2024 for senior citizens at the central lawns of the society. Every year the programme is celebrated on 1st or 2nd January, but due to extreme cold weather conditions in the first week this year the celebration had to be rescheduled for 8th January.
At Stellar we have over 60 to 70 senior citizens. Several of these seniors live alone in the society apartment with children living in distant geographies of the world. Majority of them make sure to attend this programme every year and take this opportunity to socialize with fellow senior residents.
The celebration gains more significance as it creates a sense of belongingness for our seniors, and helps in building strong bonding for a healthy community living in the high rise society.
This year too, the New Year was celebrated by seniors with great enthusiasm. There was an overwhelming response of our seniors of the society for this celebration. The participating seniors recited several poetries, shyaris, jokes and songs. Many seniors also shared their life lesson/experiences with strong messages in this ever-changing world environment. Such celebrations also help in improving the emotional quotient of our seniors who live in loneliness in this new urbanized culture.
AOA also organised fun games for the seniors in this celebration like passing the parcel, which had fun tasks and also awards in the game. Games were enjoyed greatly by all the participants.
The seniors also paid obituaries and remembered fellow residents whom we lost last year. The celebrations ended with snacks and tea.
