Spreading Joy and Knowledge through Story Telling in Regency Park II

While most of us have grown up listening to stories from our grandparents and parents, the breakdown in the Joint Family system, deprives the kids growing up in the nuclear families, from listening to stories.

Pooja Bajpai and Nina Singh working for corporates and living in Regency Park II would often talk about this during their early morning workouts and runs! One of them, Nina, a Civil Engineer, and a member of the Complex Administrative Council (CAC) of Regency Park II was conscious of this fact and when the CAC decided to pursue and promote literary activities in the condominium and appointed a committee with Kala Agarwal, an avid reader, and a polyglot (she knows four languages) as its Convener; Ms Nina immediately introduced Pooja, a Management Consultant and Coach, who uses storytelling as a tool to communicate her ideas, to Mrs Kala Agarwal and the stage was set to organise the Storytelling Sessions for Kids in the condominium, with fundamental drivers of the initiative being:

• Promote the sharing of positive messages and values using stories as a medium

• Provide a non-digital space beyond the playground!

• Educate through value-based stories from our culture!

• Offer a learning space to young minds in their formative years, and most importantly,

• Resurrect the Regency Park II Library in the long run!

The first Storytelling session was organised on the 16th of June 2023, and it has continued uninterrupted every week, after that.

The stories have ranged from mythology (Krishna, Dashavtar), classics (The Hungry Caterpillar, Cinderella), History (Akbar Birbal), Freedom Fighters (Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Tipu Sultan), moral stories from Panchatantra, Jataka Tales, Aesop’s Fables etc.

The stories are targeted at children below 10 years and are being anchored by Kala Agarwal and Pooja Bajpai. The sessions are being enjoyed by the kids and their parents are also happy with these sessions. “The storytelling sessions have instilled a love for stories and reading for my daughter, Amaya who eagerly looks forward to these sessions. Thank you for providing a platform where our children can indulge in the world of stories helping them in their holistic development” says Ms Vinita Mittal of W Block, Regency Park II.

If you are interested in sending your child for these sessions, please contact Regency Park II Estate Office for details. The plan is to keep innovating and bringing new stories and storytellers every week and continue to spread the joy while creating value.
