Khel Khel Mein….In adherence to the timeless adage “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,” a Sports Day event was meticulously organized for the underprivileged children of the sector who are regular attendees of academic classes, computer classes, and sewing workshops. The event, held on the sunny Sunday afternoon of Feb 11, 2024, unfolded at Madhuban Park, radiating an atmosphere charged with physical enthusiasm.
The program commenced with melodious renditions of patriotic songs by the students, setting a spirited tone for the day’s festivities. Races of various kinds were conducted on meticulously prepared tracks, thanks to the invaluable support of the Residents Welfare Association (RWA) and Mr. Khanna, who played a pivotal role in creating an athletic ambiance.
Participants were divided into several categories, catering to the diverse age groups and genders, ranging from very small children to juniors and seniors, encompassing both boys and girls. The array of races included traditional track events alongside engaging activities such as the spoon and lemon race, sack race, three-legged race, relay race, and the ever-popular musical chairs. A notable highlight was the inclusion of a race specifically dedicated to the ‘Super Moms,’ acknowledging their crucial role in nurturing their children’s academic pursuits and fostering a brighter future.
The event was graced by an esteemed gathering from the sector, including notable figures such as Kusum Chaddha, Shobha Juneja, Swati Sharma, and Kokila Khanna, who lent their support and encouragement to the participating children. Prizes generously sponsored by the benevolent Kapila Gupta were awarded to commendable achievers in their respective categories, further motivating the young participants.
The culmination of the Sports Day was marked by a reverent rendition of the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and patriotism amidst the spirited sporting endeavors. Following the conclusion of the event, attendees were treated to a modest yet enjoyable refreshment comprising snacks and Choco pies, adding a delightful conclusion to the day’s activities.
Heartfelt appreciation was extended to the dedicated teachers, Ms. Ruchi Arya and Ms. Sheela, for their unwavering commitment to nurturing the students’ holistic development. The success of the event was a testament to the collaborative efforts led by Neelam Suri and Manjula Jain, supported by a dedicated team including Yogita Bhasin, Aarti Jethi, Ananya Jethi, Tarini, Madhu Bhatia, Alka Kishore, and Laxmi Sinha, whose contributions were instrumental in orchestrating a memorable and fulfilling experience for all involved.
Indeed, it is a privilege to be associated with such a noble endeavor, where the joy of sports intertwines seamlessly with the pursuit of knowledge and growth, enriching the lives of the underprivileged children and fostering a sense of community spirit and camaraderie.
