Splendid Theatrical Performances Phiblish DDLJ (Dil Dhadkane Le Jaiyega) & Hello Devyani

On the evening of Sep 23, Club 15A came alive with a splendid showcase of theatrical performances. The event, dubbed “Kabhi Khushi, Kabhi Gham,” featured a captivating duo of plays which captivated the audience.

Shalini Kapur, a prominent resident of our Sector, emerged as the driving force behind these exceptional productions. Not only did she mesmerize the audience with her remarkable on-stage versatility, but she also wielded her pen with finesse to craft a brilliant script. This script ingeniously wove together the diverse tapestry of our Sector’s inhabitants into a delightful narrative, skilfully disguised as a joyous wedding celebration.

In the first play, “Phiblish DDLJ (Dil Dhadkane Le Jaiyega)”, laughter echoed throughout as the audience found themselves transported to the VIP room of our Club, a mirrored reflection of the very venue they occupied! The play revolved around a grand 10-Cr wedding unfolding downstairs, while a jittery bride, portrayed by another resident, Anya Sehgal, had barricaded herself in the bathroom. The frantic parents embarked on a comical mission to cajole her into attending her own wedding. The ensuing 45-minute exchange between the mismatched couple unearthed captivating dialogues, casting light on the fascinating intersections and disparities in their beliefs and backgrounds.

The play artfully peppered references to our beloved Sector, evoking even heartier laughter – from the legendary 6.5-star 15A Club to the ever-present hum of the Sector’s generators, from the renowned Dr. Manju to the now ‘Bharat’-ized Central Bank of India, from Samvaad to Stray Dogs, from the vigilant G4 Security to the freshest Safal ki Sabziyan, from the stylish Manyavar to Chauhan the Bartender, from dog registrations to the ceaseless circulation of political and fake videos on WhatsApp, and from the enigmatic 15A ki Kangana Ranaut to the undisputed princess of 15A.

The first play also deftly touched on contemporary issues, including the G20, Rishi Sunak, Chandrayaan-3, and the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. However, the exploration of current affairs did not cease there. The second play, titled “Hello Devyani,” witnessed Shalini’s remarkable transformation from a vivacious Punjabi housewife to a formidable politician. This production delved deep into pressing societal matters, such as women’s empowerment, greed, casteism, homosexuality, and widow remarriage, all woven into the intricate fabric of political power play in today’s world.

Behind the curtains, a dedicated crew of underprivileged children from the My Perch organization in Noida toiled tirelessly. Shivam, with his melodious tunes during the interval, added an extra layer of entertainment. The only thing the audience yearned for was an upgraded sound system to fully savour the laughter and enlightenment.
