This Earth Day, Silver Oaks kids were buzzing with excitement as they enthusiastically joined hands to celebrate Earth Day with a variety of activities focused on environmental conservation.
The events were thoughtfully planned out over two days and many young ones passionately committed to making a positive difference for our planet.
On Sunday 21st April, the focus was on engaging the creativity of children through an Earth Day craft activity. From crafting pen stands to fashioning eggshell dolls, from intricate cardboard creations to repurposing disposable plates into face masks – all was done using reusable odds and ends from home. In the evening, kids participated in a lively Nukkad Natak (street play), aimed at educating the residents on waste segregation. Spearheaded by the brilliant mind of Mrs. Shona Chatterjee (an Eco-warrior and Earth advocate), the script was crafted to simplify the waste segregation concept for all ages, titled ‘Alag Karo, Alag Karo’ (Segregate, Segregate). Even the moms got in on the action, lending their support throughout rehearsals and the final performance to make sure the message hit home.
The following day, on Earth Day itself (the 22nd of April), a small-scale plantation drive for kids was organised within the Silver Oaks premises. This initiative aimed not only to instil a sense of environmental responsibility but also to educate and inspire the next generation to become guardians of Earth. Simultaneously, a cleanliness drive was also undertaken, symbolising the commitment to not just talk the talk, but walk the walk when it comes to preserving our planet. These initiatives reinforce the belief that every action, no matter how small, contribute to the greater good, and can help take meaningful strides towards a more sustainable future.
