The South City 1 Gurudwara held a magnificent celebration of Gurupurab, which began with the Head Granthi of the Gurudwara reciting Akhand Paath and was a collective celebration of the values and teachings of our Gurus.
The Gurudwara was exquisitely decked with flowers and lights. In keeping with the teachings of the Gurus, the floral waste was taken for recycling by the people who had put it in place.
The Akhand Paath was followed by a Kirtan performed by multiple Jathaas from various ‘Ethihasic’Gurudwaras from all over India.
All those who visited the Gurudwara were served a sumptuous langar which was served throughout the day.
Langar seva-related activities had started a day before the main event, when everyone gathered to chop vegetables for early the next morning. All the devotees received prasad from the Gurudwara with smiles.
There were numerous stalls serving an assortment of delicacies. The prevalent mood was one of exhilaration and gratitude creating a joyful mood.
Listening to the Kirtan was very pleasing to our souls and while teaching us valuable lessons, it pointed us in the right direction in our lives. It was indeed wonderful to see the festive spirit and that everyone was treated fairly.
