Most societies and condominiums have 300 or more residents young and old. It is so commonly noticed that we do not acknowledge or respect each other unless we are very intimately known. Why can we not give a smile or say hi if we come across a co-resident in a lift or in a compound while seeing each other? We fail to give notice as if there is nothing common between us where we live under the same roof, so as to say, undergoing the same benefits or problems as are in all condos.
We see such an attitude also while sitting next to someone in a train or, for that matter, on a plane. The seemingly egoistic, or, should we say, unsocial, attitude is so common that we see or observe it in our daily lives. What is the harm in giving a smile or saying hello as if you really know the person? One doesn’t lose anything but only shows we are so self-centered. Mr. Singh of our condo felt the same when I renewed with him.
Condo living means one big family. The more socially active we are, the better. It will give you a good feeling. Let’s all try and see.
If not social, man is an animal. So the saying should be.
