In our April edition, I shared about the gang of snake charmers who tried to terrorize me and were asking for money. This incident still sends shivers down my spine. On the morning of 21st August when I picked the morning newspaper I saw an article with pictures of the Snake Charmers gang and news that Gurgaon police had nabbed them along with two snakes. The modus operandi was to pose like priests and shove snakes through car windows and auto-rickshaws at traffic signals to rob terrorized commuters. Both the suspects were arrested after a woman was robbed of Rs 2000/- in an auto-rickshaw. The snakes recovered were non-venomous and were handed over to wildlife authorities.
It is important to report such incidents to prevent not only the threat to humans but to wildlife too.
