Sandeep Gupta (98185-62105) reported that on 19 Feb at about 7.15 pm a boy stole his child’s cycle from his house C-63 as per the CCTV. In the video the boy appears to be ‘well dressed and not exactly ‘ typical vagabond thief ‘. Anybody would have thought that the kid’s friend had taken the cycle, had one not known the context.
Sandeep added “Can this boy be traced and stern action taken …. specially against those behind the crime.”
We keep hearing about bicycle thefts in the sector off and on. Many such thefts are not even reported as residents consider it to be a minor issue. They actually blame their kids and family members for not locking their bicycles.
A subziwala vendor shared with Samvada reporter that he has spotted 10 yr to 12 yr old boys selling stolen bicycles in Nithari. They also sell stolen helmets. They probably find our sector which is right in front of Nithari very easy to strike and hide their booty in their house in Nithari.
Most of these youngsters are either druggies or get involved in criminal activities to get extra bucks. We are sure their parents must be aware of their activities but remain silent for whatever reason.
RWCS has to find an answer to this problem. They are issuing car stickers to secure cars but what action they plan to take for Bicycles and motorbikes will be worth looking at.
In the meantime let’s all take care and keep our main gates and bicycles locked.
