The monkey menace in GK-2 seems to be an unending problem. Several cases of nuisance created by monkeys have got reported from different parts of the colony.
While there have been instances of monkeys straying into homes and running away with food items, in extreme cases monkeys have even attacked people. Being aggressive by nature, monkeys get provoked very easily. While this problem appears to be all pervasive, some areas with heavy concentration of monkeys include temple/gurdwara complexes and colony parks due to easy availability of food at these places.
Also, monkeys are very often spotted in areas bordering Jahanpanah forest, which is their natural habitat. Recently, a troop of 7-8 monkeys was seen walking on the road opposite Talwar Nursing Home. Residents should avoid indiscriminate disposal of trash, particularly food items, around their homes and shun any kind of incitement to monkeys to obviate any attacks by them. At the same time, the Authorities should take a note of this problem in the colony and deploy monkey catchers to relocate the monkeys to the nearby forests.
