The lively Lohri celebration took place at the Silver Oaks Community Centre on Saturday, the 13th January evening, starting at 5:30 p.m. The entire community centre came alive with a dazzling display of lights. To kickstart the festivities, the senior residents were given the honour of lighting the auspicious Lohri bonfire. With reverence and joy, they stepped forward and performed a parikrama, and lit the holy bonfire. Following the ceremonial fire lighting, the atmosphere was charged with energy as residents engaged in lively and interesting Lohri songs and boliyaan like Sunder Mundriye, Baari Barsi Khatn Gaya Si, etc. The highlight of the evening was the mesmerizing cultural performances by a group of residents.
Dressed in a vibrant and traditional Punjabi salwar suit with a phulkari dupatta, they presented two spectacular dance forms: Gidda and Bhangra. Their rhythmic footwork, graceful movements, and colorful costumes captivated every heart present. Additionally, a chat corner served mouth-watering delicacies such as ram ladoo, garam tikkis, gol gappe, and jalebis. As the night progressed, many residents continued to dance to the beats of the Dhol, reveling in the joyous spirit of Lohri. The moongfali, rewri, and popcorn at the Lohri celebration were generously sponsored by Narayana Hospital (DLF Phase 3 Gurugram). Through traditional rituals, lively performances, and delectable treats, the Lohri event brought together people of all age groups, including kids and senior residents.
The echoes of laughter, the beats of the dhol, and the warmth of the bonfire created an unforgettable evening for all Silver Oaks residents.
