Silver City Resident at Rashtrapati Bhavan

A resident of Silver City, Sector 93, Tanvi Saraiya, is a professional hand pottery artist and a calligrapher. She specializes in blending traditional techniques with modern creativity. With 18+ years of experience in both the crafts, she evokes emotion and beauty through every stroke of the pen and every mould of clay.

Tanvi has been conducting workshops using hand building pottery techniques like pinching, coiling and slabbing. Over the years she has been conducting training sessions, sculpting workshops (e.g. eco friendly clay Ganesha idol making) and preparing custom sculptures on order. Likewise, she has mastered a variety of calligraphy styles and scripts – in English and multiple regional languages of India. She teaches these in online as well as offline sessions and holds workshops for students, domestic and abroad. Besides, she uses calligraphy very creatively for engraving on various mediums.

We are thrilled to share here, that recently she was invited to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where she conducted a 2-day hand pottery workshop. There were more such workshops on other arts as well conducted by few other artists. Following the workshops, she was invited to showcase the pottery pieces crafted by the students, during her sessions to the President. It was an honour for her to meet the President of India, Draupadi Murmu; she presented her a pottery art piece adorned with beautiful Santhal art on the occasion of her birthday. Being a proud member of the Santhal tribe, President ma’am could very well connect with the presented Santhal art piece, which was a humble tribute to the vibrant traditions and the artistic excellence of the Santhal community. She was indeed very pleased to see one.

She also indulges in engraving on a variety of mediums as part of custom client orders, from India and foreign countries. Students for pottery and calligraphy are from different walks of life and different age groups.

Besides these, she has been regularly conducting Summer Camps based on science and art themes, for school children. Tanvi has been associated and have worked for a couple of local NGOs too.
