Panchsheel Enclave had an extended Diwali celebration for quite a few days. Residents had started lighting their facades well in advance with sparkling lights in beautiful designs.
A day before Diwali, a few decorated their houses with flowers, some with fresh flowers and others with plastic ones and eye catching intricate designs. Fresh flowers gave a splendid look and the fragrance lasted for a few days. The flowers also stayed for a few days depending on what side they were fixed on.Walking through the colony roads gave me a beautiful feeling of Lord Ram roaming in the lanes of Panchsheel enclave. PERA also organized a Diwali dinner, which too was appreciated by those who attended. Our Holiday Club greeted the residents with sweet pinnies and accompanied with a beautiful diya. Such a thoughtful gesture from PERA and Holiday Club. What more does one want!! The darker side of the festival, though brightened by bursting fire crackers, the over-enthusiastic residents couldn’t control themselves and burst crackers openly despite the ban without any fear of being caught by the police for not complying with the H.C. orders. Now the honorable Supreme Court has served notices to Delhi Government Delhi Police for not obeying the crackers ban order. If the order was to be complied with, why was the sale of crackers not checked.
Creating a choking atmosphere and harming your lungs is not worth the pleasure of a few hours. Leave aside its effect on children, asthma patients and elderly people. When will we grow up and learn a lesson? A question to be asked to ourselves!
