I was excited to interview my sweetest and cutest inter-viewees yet, my non-twin twins, born on the same day, 29 October, but two years apart – Binaisha (7 years old) and her younger sister, Sharrvi (5 years old).
Binaisha is a student at Heritage School in 2nd Grade; Sharrvi goes to Heritage too. I’ve known these little chatterboxes since they were born, and we call them Shimmer and Shine.
I chose to speak to these young girls for their initiative of putting a stall in the lawns right in front of Tower 4, around Christmas, where they were selling Hot Chocolate and Christmas decorations made at home, to Hamlet residents.
It was probably the cutest site. They wanted to offer hot chocolate to the kids in the bitter cold winter and from what we’ve heard, it was yummy.
“It was a lot of fun putting up the stall and giving hot chocolate to the kids in Hamlet”. On asking young Sharrvi if she had any of it herself, she was prompt to say with a smile “No, I did not!”
The proceeds from the sale went towards a social cause thereafter. It takes a lot for children so young to set up something so creative and interesting. Three cheers to the initiative and we hope more residents come forward to encourage our kids who take such initiatives.
