Shikha Rai Invites Representatives of RWAs of GK To Meet Meenakshi Lekhi

Election Year Is Round the Corner

Our area councillor, Shikha Rai invited the representatives of the RWAs of GK ward 173 to meet the Minister of state for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi.

The meeting was held on the 16 June at the Madhuban hotel. This hotel, started by LN Jaggi in 1981, stands tall on the Hansraj Gupta Marg just before it turns towards the M block market. Renovated in 2008, this hotel was a cozy place to host the meeting. Kush Nanda, Director of the hotel was present to overlook the arrangements for the meeting. Water and soft drinks were being served continuously.

The karyakartas (workers) of the BJP had a tiffin meeting in the banquet hall of the hotel. They brought their tiffins from home and ate together in the crockery and cutlery provided by the hotel.

Meenakshi ji was supposed to meet the karyakartas before the meeting with the RWAs but, as she got delayed with her previous engagements, she met them in the lobby of the hotel where the representatives of the RWAs were waiting for her arrival.

Meenaksh ji was accompanied by Shikha ji and her team. She apologized for keeping us waiting and went on to greet everyone at their tables. Flyers highlighting the achievements of the past nine years were distributed.

Once everyone was seated, a lot of people were standing as the reception area was brimming with people, she started to talk to us about the achievements of the nine years of the present government. She applauded us for choosing the correct party to govern the country. Some of the important topics she touched were the drinking water taps and toilets that have been made available to villages far and wide. She narrated an incident about one of her trips to Europe where she told her young assistant to go shopping while she herself had coffee in a cafe. The assistant returned soon after because, to her surprise, none of the shops would accept payments through phone. They were accepting only cash and card payments. In our country, it was Modi ji’s idea to introduce digital payments and today we make payments, however small or big, with the click of a button on our smart phones. Such has been the success of digital India under the present government.

Finally, before leaving, she requested us to urge every citizen to come out to vote as every vote counts. After she left for her next meeting, sandwiches, pakoras, tea, coffee and soft drinks were served to all present.
