It was a regular 17th August morning and children of the A-Block government school were studying as usual..suddenly they were interrupted by loud slogans “Sharab ki dukaan nahi banegi”! Teachers and students came out to see the crowd that had gathered outside their school which is right next to their classroom.
All of A block residents had gathered to protest against a liquor shop being constructed in the heart of the colony sharing its back wall with a school! There were ladies, old and young residents and most importantly these children and their teachers who were so upset that the last slogans were replaced by “Sharab nahi Shiksha Chahiye! The owners never took any permission from any authority to start construction and were building this huge place secretly.
Unfortunately, in spite of the protests and the efforts of the residents, the liquor shop construction is still in full swing and will attract a not-so-decent crowd in the residential colony and there will always be unnecessary noise, farce and tamasha morning and night next to a school! Authorities are you listening?
