Shakti Jain is a resident of E27 Green Park Main. She got married in 1977 and was welcomed by a loving family of three strong mothers, – Maa, Taima and Grandma who nurtured and contributed to the upbringing of her husband.
Shakti was a daughter of a well read family and did MSC in Geology. From the very beginning she never wanted to be a housewife only, yet could not go against the tradition of the family. However to satiate her hunger for work and her innovative and constructive ideas, the family permitted her to work with her husband who is a CA by profession.
Life took a turn and she became the mother of two kids who had to be groomed. Even while doing her duty towards the family she had the yearning desire to do something different and new. So she did a gemology course and did diamond business for a few years from 2000 to 2014.
Meanwhile got opportunities in the Surbhi club of 250 members and held the position of Secretary and President for 3 years. Her restless nature did not let her stop at that. She carved out another niche for herself in society by becoming the founder member of Women’s Square – a group focused towards bringing out creativity and talent hidden in every woman of the group.
Shakti – the founder member of the group realized that ladies after fulfilling the responsibilities towards the kids and family take retirement from the family scene. This is the second innings for them to do such things which they have not been able to do because of their busy schedule. So now is the time to encourage them to bring out the hidden talents to showcase them on a platform like women’s square. In this group the ladies showcase their talents of dance, drama, music cooking, astrology, fashion debate, Talks, comedy show etc which is based on a new theme every time.
This inculcates confidence in them and they get ready for more participation. It is not an easy task every woman has her own inhibitions, be it family kids, age contributions etc. Today women’s square targets women of the age group between 50 and 80 years who now participate in everything wholeheartedly. They enjoy every moment spent together. The zeal for doing things for themselves is to be seen to be believed.
Women square is a brainchild of Shakti whose pulsating mind conceives a new theme for every meeting where women members participate whole heartedly and bring out the best in them. Recently I saw an 85 year old lady dancing away to glory. This is a living example of how women square works. Women’s square is a platform to create and share happiness. Every year women’s square celebrates cancer kids’ birthdays in Safdarjung hospital as well.
Women square has no inhibitions in copying the Kapil Sharma show. They have their own way of celebrating festivals like Holi, Teej, karva chauth, Navratri Devi Pujan, Christmas, Dussehra, New year etc.
Shakti means power, strength, energy. Shakti lives up to her name as a volcano of energy, a brain that pulses with thoughts, ideas and schemes which she wants to translate into action. Confident to the core, so nobody can take away from her convictions. She is an enthusiastic dancer be it classic or zumba or Radhe Krishna playing Holi. Dressing up, so yes you will find her dress to suit the occasion. Western dresses, hat and goggles – she looks like a sports person playing cricket. I give her all the marks for channeling her energy for the well being of women in particular and society in general. I would definitely call her this personality a gem on whom we can take pride.
