Shade Cover Removed from Pool

The name of club is Defence Colony “WELFARE” Association (Club). But visit to the club now seems to give an impression that it is more of a business centre than a WELFARE club that it used to be.

At one time seniors and children were the priority and the most important part of the club was the family. It has now become a meeting point of brokers and politicians.

Moreover, when the management is approached by a member with a problem instead of solving his problem, he is pushed from one committee to the other, making him wonder if it is the same fauji club and its helpful AC members who took pride of their club.

Today’s incidence will prove what I’m trying to explain: Thanks to summer vacation I took my daughter (only 8 yr old) for swimming at 10 am. The sun had already come out and to save myself from the heat sat under the shade. That’s when I noticed that the green cloth shade over the shallow area was missing. If I clearly remember this was installed every year to protect elders and children from the direct sunlight.

What I came to know was that it was removed because some members wanted to see stars in the evening and some complained of dust falling in the pool from the cloth.

This was a strange complaint because as I presume only 5 % of the was covered with this cover and there was ample place around it to see the stars. Secondly, being open from all around dust leaves and branches drop from all over anyway.

Finally when I approached the committee members I was tossed from one committee to the other and all of them washed off their hands from the problem saying the pool management committee member will decide and that member is not available.

Except the HGS Mr Vipin all others seem not interested and asked me to wait. Does this mean I should wait for my child to get a heat stroke. As a parent and vacation on I can’t give my child a reason “Beta the club is in a five-year planning mode so you should forget swimming in the morning”.

As a member of the club who pays his dues on time, I have equal rights to get my request addressed on time.

The management committee has to realize this a volunteer and welfare organisation where our kids need to be given priority and safety and their health should come first. I leave it on to you readers to decide if I’m right.

Update: Thanks to Hon Secretary Vipin Bhasin the covers have been restored and they will be very much required in the coming days as temp is predicted to be above 42 degrees.
