In the past few years, the problem of sewers getting blocked all around the colony has become a major headache for residents, especially in the market area, which nowadays looks like a dirty, waterlogged pond. The main issue arises from why this is happening. Proper desilting of sewers has not taken place for so many years, which has resulted in blocking the lines. None of the market restaurants and D block restaurants has an STP plant, which leads to dumping of restaurant waste directly in the sewer lines and blocking them. Also, most sewers are blocked with plastic bottles and packets disposed of by servants using stilt parking toilets. Lastly, is the pressure created on the sewer lines, which were laid back in the 1960s to take care of a certain number of plots, which have now been tripled with a single or double- floor house being converted into four floors. It has been really important that the concerned authority make a plan to change the sewer lines, especially the trunk lines on D and C blocks so that the issue can be resolved. Hopefully, our new MLA Neeraj Baisoya, under whom the Delhi Jal Board comes, will implement the same as soon as possible.
