As the commercialization of Def col is increasing with each passing month, the residents are now facing the issue of parking of vehicles by outsiders in the service lanes. These vehicles are parked for long hours or at times for days creating hassles for the residents who are not able to use the service lanes for their own use. If not addressed or resolved, it may result into major issues in case of emergency like fire etc. The offices are already using various places (near parks, Nallah, in front of the house etc. etc. but it seems due to no laid down specific rules, these vehicle owners at times get into fights with the residents in case someone questions them.
The drivers of these vehicles keep loitering around in the back lanes, parks etc., seen smoking, urinating or gambling throughout the day. As the floors and houses are given on rent, they behave like owners of the house and keep threatening the helpless residents.
Solutions of this issue:
• There is a need to make Def col a gated colony. This is the best way to discipline such vehicle owners.
• The vehicle stickers on the residents’ cars will identify the “colony cars” and enable the security personnel to get the non-resident vehicles removed from the service lanes.
• A few places should be earmarked for outsiders’ vehicles in the colony as is the case in other colonies.
• The House owners should also ensure to guide their tenants to park the vehicles at a specified area to keep the other residents happy.
Lastly, it is important to keep our colony safe by restricting these vehicles and put them under control. This will enable the residents to use front and back lanes at all times.
