Gulmohar Journalists Colony Senior Citizen forum in association with Gulmohar Sports Centre presented a soulful musical evening from Malva Region of Madhya Pradesh. The singers were from Malva. The programme started at 6.30 P.M.onward at Gulmohar club ‘s ground floor hall.
Malvi loke Sangeet Bhajans refers to devotional songs with a religious theme or spiritual ideas specially Bhakti marg Kabeer Das’s nirankari nirgun Bhakti Bhajan and dohas are prominent features in Malvi Bhajan.
Malvi Lok Sangeet is traditional heritage which is transferred from generation to generation with Guru Parampara (guru is most important in malva folk). It is based on duty, love, spiritualism and bhakti.
Bhajas are accompanied by Tabla, Dolak, Harmonium, Kartal, Manjeera and Tamboor. Bhajans are mostly lyrics by Kabeer, Raidas and other bhakti margi poets based upon ragas. These bhajans are developed during movement. Devotional Music of Nirankari cult is popularity of malvi bhajans.
The programme started with welcome address by the President of the forum Mr. Y. Sahay, Mrs Madhu Bhandari, the co-convenor of cultural activities gave a brief description of malawi folk and introduced traditional folk singers from Malwa Region..
They started programme with guru Vandana ueks ueks n’kZu nsoks xq: dchjk fujey Hkjks ‘kjhj xq: vk;ks, The volume and pitch of the bhajans was with very high note in tar saptak. It was melodious full of energy, devotion and bhakti.That followed by many more bhajans continuously for almost two and half hours. Some bahajans out of them 1. jke uke tiys js cUns rj tk;sxk 2- ekul tUe vueksy rw ekVh esa er jkSan 3- ,lh djuh D;ks djsa cks;k isM+ ccwy dk rks vke dgk¡ ls [kk; 4- ehjk tgj dk dVksjk ih;ks js jkukth rkju dj xbZ 5- D;ks Fkkjh vDy HkqykbZ jk euok etc. The music lyrics presentation was so melodious mesmerising full of devotion spiritual feel that the audience felt the magic of sufi nirankari bhakti and some of them was so carried away that could not stop them and started to dance with rhythm and music while others accompanied them by rhythmic applause and enjoyed the moment.
At the end of programme Mr.Y.Sahay President of the forum thanked artists for their beautiful music and presentation and audience for their presence. It was really an entertaining evening of great devotional music.
