Celebrating Mother’s Day may be a good gesture to demonstrate gratitude and love for mother – but we have not inherited it through our tradition and culture. In our culture mother is special every day, and every moment. This celebration, however, has a broader social significance. It should not be reduced to a ritual practice and a commercial activity. However, this Mother’s Day is something special for me. In the morning few students from Vivekananda Mission Orphanage of our sector came to invite me for the evening prayer because they want to celebrate the evening with me. I felt honoured and gladly accepted the offer, as they all call me Ma. When I reached there -to my utter surprise they were so happy and all of them touched my feet and there was a great mood of celebration. Many of them presented hand-made cards. I was overwhelmed. Request all the senior citizens, those who feel lonely, spend some time with these types of orphans. They need your love and motherly affection. They need love to smile. You will find your God there. In conclusion I like to quote Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Ji, “Being a mother is an emotion. You can have a motherly attitude towards everyone. You can be a mother to all the children in the world who do not have parents and you receive love from them which is divine .”
