Annual Senior Citizens Lunch: The winter of 2023-24 is most enjoyable for the senior citizens of Def col who are not visiting the SCF hall more frequently to spend quality time with their new friends who are adding with each passing month. The New chairperson Harjeet Kaur Bawa is now actively involved in day-to-day activities to make it most happening place for the senior citizens. The SCF hall is generally full of seniors who are seen enjoying, singing, chatting and mingling with each other in the morning and evenings to pass their time with lots of fun. The Hot cup of tea is always available for everyone to chill in the winters. There are games like Carrom board, chess to have friendly competition.
Annual Senior Citizens’ Lunch: The SCF team led By Harjeet Kaur Bawa organized the annual Gala Lunch for senior citizens on Sat, 6 Jan ’23 at the SCF office. The SCF team was ready to welcome the guests from 11 AM and it was nice to see that more than 100 seniors reached SCF office much before time. They were served hot cup of ginger tea to get started with entertainment program. The energy was unmatchable as they started singing, dancing immediately to entertain each other. Mrs. Bawa ensured that each senior citizen get comfortable seat and was served with water and hot tea. The program started with the theme of “Old is Gold”… Charu Aggarwal, HP Khanna and Ajay Kumar sang songs from Golden era reminding us of the sentiments that old melodies remain forever. Hearty dance performances from NK Bhasin, Chander Sehdev, SKS Rekhi and Ajay Kumar added extra beat to the luncheon.
The entertainment program went on for more than two hours before the sumptuous lunch of Makki ki roti, sarson ka saag and Gajar ka Halwa was served with the courtesy HS Kandhari. The food was yummiest as the white makhan on saag and gur was enjoyed by one and all. The entire management team of SCF led by Harjit Bawa, SKS Rekhi and Sdn. Ranju Sethi, CP Khanna, Mahesh Gupta and BR Puri and other volunteers ensured that each activity of the program executed as per the plan to entertain the seniors.
Veena Khanna, President DCWA also graced the occasion. A special gratitude to S Inderjit Singh and Sdn Kanwaljit Kaur for their presence in the event to encourage the management team for the successful event. Lastly, the success of this gathering was a testament to Late SGS Bawa ji’s vision and full-hearted participation of all the guests. The next big event “Birthday Bash” at the SCF would be on Jan 28 to celebrate the birthdays of all the senior citizens who were born in the month of Jan.
