In a shocking incident, a super-senior citizen was robbed at knifepoint! The incident occurred at 6 p.m. on Jan 12. Suresh Chandra Goel (D-65B) had gone to the Kalibari Mandir as usual and was walking home when he was approached by two well-built men just before the crossing. They showed him a knife and demanded Rs 1000 from him. As the elderly gentleman stood in shock, they repeated their demand, saying that they knew where he lived and that he should hand over the money.
Mr Goel happened to be carrying only Rs. 1000, and he handed over the cash, after which the two men brushed past him. The senior citizen was too dazed to even notice whether the two perpetrators were on foot or in a vehicle.
He was not carrying a mobile and walked home, where he recounted his experience. His shocked daughter-in-law posted about the incident on WhatsApp groups the next day, lamenting the safety and security in the sector but also thanking God that no harm was done.
After the post RWCS Prez Govind Sharma sent the following message: It is a matter of great concern for every resident in the sector. I have taken this matter very seriously and will talk to police also to increase the police patrolling. Our sector’s bad luck is its commercialization by Apollo & I – Care hospitals & during the day N.S. Public School too. I often see Mr Goel near temple a number of times. Thank God nothing happened to Mr. Goel. I request all residents that in cases where you see even with little doubt any stranger, please call immediately Security at no.
