Delhi Govt. has created facilities in various colonies for Senior Citizens of the area to get together, read newspapers and magazines. Govt. of NCT provides grants (both one time and recurring) to RWA’s to run these Senior Citizen Recreation Centers. S block RWA has proposed to Delhi Govt. to convert unused water pump plot to construct building for Senior Citizen Recreation Centre in S block. Similar plots can be identified in all other blocks to create Senior Citizen Recreation Centers.
C block has a building which was built to house erstwhile DESU in early sixties. DESU used this building for its bill collection and AE office. With increase in DESU activities, new building was built opposite W block in Atal Park and all DESU offices shifted to new building. The building in C block was vacated but is now being used by BSES contractor as godown, workshop, garage for goods transport vehicles and residence for contractor staff.
Delhi Govt. may advise BSES to hand over this building in C block park to RWA and Water pump area in S block to SBRWA to convert the sane into Senior Citizens Recreation Centers.
Similar properties and land blocks can be identified in all other residential blocks to provide facility of Senior Citizen Centers for the welfare of residents.
Delhi Govt. support in providing Senior Citizen Centers in various blocks of Greater Kailash 1 would be in line with Delhi Govt. policies and schemes for welfare of citizens. Funding for setting up these centers in blocks can come from Delhi Govt. Welfare Department or RWA’s may generate funds through sponsorship and member donations.
May be a delegation of GKRWA would need to submit a memorandum to area councilor and Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj to take up the request with appropriate authorities.
