Lohri was celebrated with great enthusiasm. After wishing a very happy Lohri by Mrs Meena Kapur our cultural programme organ-iser, the event started.
Typical Punjabi songs like..Ni mera Mahi githmuthia… and ‘Dig Pai ni mein sheesh Mahal ton…. where a Punjabi Mutyaar expresses her emotions, love and regard towards her husband in a very attractive manner. Also an amazing concept presented by doing Salsa Yoga with the traditional Punjabi song ‘Lathe di Chadar” by Mother, Massi and daughter – old and new generations learning from each other.
The program would have remained incomplete without “Jind Mai” presented by all lively energetic Males and Giddha by beautiful ladies in colourful attires. A Punjabi folk song “CHALLA” made everyone dance to the tune and Dholak.
“Dhiyaan di manao Lohri khushian de naal” was sung by Mrs. Sumita Batra and a party dedicated to “Women’s dignity and gender equality in festival celebration”. After this, Acharya ji lit the bonfire reciting sacred mantras with the help of Mr. G.D. Mehta, the whole atmosphere became soulful and lively.
Packets of peanuts, Rewari and popcorn were distributed among everyone while singing the traditional songs Hulle ni Hulle and Sundar Mundariye. Folk songs set the mood and soon everyone finally joined in with an energetic rhythm…played by Mrs. Shashi Gupta. It filled the whole atmosphere with joy, excitement and inspiration.
Mr Prasad appreciated and congratulated Meena Ji for organising and presenting a wonderful Programme. He greeted everyone present on the eve of the festival laying stress on the value of the culture. Ashwani ji’s anchoring really added to the energy of the event with his quick wit and sense of humour and of course knowledge of the subject.
Last but not the least everyone missed the presence of Mrs. and Mr. Guaba. Let’s pray together for more regular get-togethers to have more moments of happiness and togetherness.
