Security is a very important part of any community, but recently, over a few weeks of late-night excursions, it has come to my attention that our security is being compromised in a few ways.
The only two entrances to DLF 2 that are open during the night hours are the M Block gate that opens onto the highway and the Central Arcade Gate that opens onto MG Road.
Upon coming back from the Central Arcade gate around 12 am at night in different vehicles (cabs, autos, and a car without a DLF sticker), I have noticed that many a time a lot of cars accumulate on both sides of the gate at night and instead of checking and doing their jobs, the security guards just permit a free flow of traffic in order to ease the congestion. Letting traffic from outside enter without proper checking or verification is indeed an issue as anyone with ill intentions or motives towards the residents or their property could make their way in.
On the other hand, the Jacaranda gate, which connects M block to the highway, is better equipped, and the personnel there make sure to interact with the residents as well as confirm the address and details.
Given the history of thefts and the prevalence of other issues related to substance consumption, etc., it is extremely risky for a gate to let the masses pass through without first verifying their destination.
We should, as residents, appeal to the concerned authorities and keep a lookout for such activity when we come back at night.
