Security Guards are Not Our Personal Servants

‘‘आप हमारे पैसे पर पलते हैं’’

A lady resident was seen saying this to the security personnel posted at the gate of a society in Sector 76 in a video clip while arguing with them.

The lady had some issue related to the delay in entry of a pick-up called by her which was stopped by the security at the gate of the society for want of entry permission. This had irritated the lady and she started abusing the security guard on duty  -as seen in the video that got viral on social media.

The situation took an ugly turn after the lady in the course of heated argument used above sentence and finally resulted in a police case.

This  type of incidents are quite common when the residents get irritated on the security guards due to slightest of the inconvenience caused to them due to security procedure and start humiliating them with abusive languages.

One need to appreciate that security guards are deployed by the society for the safety & security of the residents and they perform their duty as per the rules set by the managing committee. They are bound to check people entering the premises even if they are the residents since it is humanly not possible to know each and every resident by face. They will restrict the entry of vehicles and visitors in absence of proper permission by the owner.

These activities may take a bit of time and one should not get irritated on such formalities. One must appreciate that security & convenience can’t go hand in hand.

Further, it is absolutely absurd to think of the security guards as their personal servants since these guards are paid by the society from the Common Area Maintenance Charges.

They are also the paid employees of the security agency recruited for the specific job of safety & security of the campus like many of us who work in corporate world.

It is therefore, need of the hour for every resident in the society to realize this fact and instead of settling the matter themselves, should approach the elected office bearer of the AOA to avoid the ugly spat.
