Sec 75 Residents Inspired by Flower Show to Create More Green Space

The Flower Show organised by the Noida Authority is not a new concept. The Authority has been organizing the event for many years but its popularity has gained mo-mentum, especially because the event took a long pause during the COVID period. The event witnessed a record-breaking crowd this year. The show was so much appreciated that the residents of Sector 75 wanted to see a cover story on it and we received a few requests. The show was scheduled from 23 to 25 February. Apart from showcasing exotic flora, another interesting feature of the show  was the  sale of organic manures for better growth of flowers and plants along with various rain harvesting techniques for every participant’s awareness.

More than 70 varieties of flowers were showcased at the flower show in various themes, however the design of Ram temple made with several varieties of flowers was the highlight of the show. A new addition to the show was an Animal park where several animals like dinosaurs, crabs and spiders were prepared with waste material.

Many varieties of flowers were displayed at several nursery stalls selling plants, gardening accessories, tools, manures, pots landscaping consultants etc. The event witnessed various competitions like cut flower decoration, bonsai displays, food and vegetable carving paintings, talk on millets, compositing, cultural shows and plays.

Our editor Dushyant Kumar says that it should not stop here. We should all try to make more green space around us. Pollution is growing day by day and does not seem to stop.  The green cover and space are inversely proportional to pollution and are fast shrinking. The least we can do is grow more trees around us, in the parks, green belts and common areas. We can also use our balconies and terraces to make terrace gardens. In fact, the Noida Authority had given awards in several such categories with the sole aim of promoting and encouraging gardening and green activities.
