One of the biggest problems plaguing Vasant Vihar is the traffic mess. Vasant Vihar is home to 19 schools and approximately 16000 students come in the morning and leave in the afternoon. This has the making of a major traffic chaos.
One resident shared this picture of two school buses cutting in front of their vehicle leaving no room for them to maneuver out of a very tricky traffic situation. It gives a very clear picture of the situation at hand. With many parents visiting Vasant Vihar to drop the children in the morning for school and many others for picking up the same children in the afternoon, the brunt of the traffic jams and chaos is borne by the residents of the colony A sustained and permanent solution to the existing traffic menace needs to be found.
Shri Ashu Girotra, soon after taking over, held a meeting with VVWA and all the school representatives. Very few schools responded favorably. The seriousness could be gauged from the fact that one school sent a laboratory assistant to attend the meeting. Obviously, very little was achieved.
Recently, Sri Ram School changed the traffic plan and diverted all the traffic to Paschimi Marg, which led to very chaotic traffic jams. The matter was taken up with the school authorities. Meetings were held, in which Shri Ashu Girotra, Traffic Inspector, VVWA, DBRWA, the school authorities and residents of D-Block. Matters have been discussed, alternatives have been looked at. The school authorities have requested that they would be able to devote time and resolve the issue during the summer holidays. We are taking up the matter and hope that the solution will satisfy everyone.
