Not just our online life but our real physical lives are filled with scammers all around us. This month saw even our colony infiltrated by various types of scammers, thieves, etc.
Mr. Gulati at M13 reported an incident where two men dressed in police uniforms came to their home. They claimed that a boy from Agra was missing and his location was being shown as their residence. His wife refused to let them in and asked them to call the policeman from the Ph-2 police station or the guard on duty. After arguing for a few minutes, they left.
A girl was found attempting to enter a few houses in Q block in the daylight hours. She was even successful in just walking into the houses where any door outside was open, without knocking or ringing a bell, and was ready to take a chance to steal. Mrs Seth in Q1 shared that the girl slowly walked into her house. Her maid saw her and when asked she said she was looking for her friend who probably worked there. In the other house where she entered, she went into the bedroom while the residents were in the living room. They managed to take a few pictures of her and call QRT.
She managed to enter into houses in Q1, Q5, Q6, Q7 before QRT or police could reach there. In Q6, she took away Mr. Yadav’s mobile phone kept in the drawing room while he was inside in the other room. Her attempts to enter some houses were captured on CCTV also and was seen to probably have a few more people along too.
Anuradha in L31 reported that her mother saw a man fidgeting with their gate from outside at 2am in the night. She even called him out aloud but couldn’t make sense of who he was in the dark. The person went away and was unsuccessful to open the gate as the latch was securely in place from the inside. A similar incident was captured by someone’s CCTV on another day in the same area as well.
Megha from JCM shared that while she was in her basement studio with her maid for some cleaning, 2 sikh men came down the stairs and walked into her studio, urging me to donate for a langar they would be organizing. With her helper’s assistance, she managed to send them away but was totally shaken up by the incident of someone just walking in.
A group of 6 blind men was seen by residents going around P block lanes singing bhajans and asking for elms.
With the presence of various agencies including the DLF2 police station right inside our colony, there is a need to strictly monitor and put in more checks and measures to provide better security in the colony.
