Residents and RWA of Santushti Apartments have been instrumental in the success of various drives related to reducing the use of single use plastic in Vasant Kunj Area. In another such initia-
tive, RWA D6 Santushti Apartments collaborated with MCD South Zone to be a part of the #100DaystoBeatPlastic campaign flagged off by LG, to take up special Swachhata Drives in Vasant Kunj. DC, SZ, Dr Angel Bhati Chauhan, IAS, Councillor Jagmohan Mehlawat and MCD Brand Ambasador Dr Ruby Makhija launched this special drive from Central Market, opposite Vasant Square Mall, Vasant Kunj, along with RWA president Snehlata Rathi and team.
Ten days of relentless cleaning, awareness n plogging drives were held in various markets of Vasant Kunj. Shopkeepers were educated and advised to adopt Vikalp, borrow a bag and stop using polythene bags. During this plogging drive, RWA Santushti was successful in collecting 73 kgs of SUP waste from markets n roads. The heroes of the drive were once again the junior Santushtians, who, along with the RWA staff, collected around 25 kgs of SUP from within sector. Visits to weekly markets to educate both vendors n customers to stop using polythene bags by the enthusiasts of Santushti has also been a regular feature.
The RWA intends to spread awareness and requests residents of VK and entire Delhi to always carry a cloth bag and water bottle along and say no to SUP.
