The water we get in our household is supplied from the overhead tanks situated in every sector of Noida. There are two such overhead tanks in our Sector-50 also. One is located in A Block, near ATS Greens-1, and other at the end of D block. Almost all the overhead tank premises have underground Reservoir in addition to the overhead tanks. Water from Ganga and other underground sources is stored in the underground Reservoir. Subsequently it is then pumped into overhead tank and supplied to the household at a certain pressure and for a fixed period so that water reaches every household, in their respective tanks.
Do we know how water supply is handled?
There are pump operators deployed for every overhead. Normally they reside in the water tank premises itself. They operate the pumps and supply valves in their shift duties. There may be two or more pump operators with their family residing in the premises. But here one can see a number of temporary structures made inside the premises, where other people are also residing; all of them may not be employed or working for Noida Authority (NA). They reside in the premises, and do other jobs outside. It is not only illegal and arbitrary but also dangerous for ensuring smooth supply of potable water safely to the household.
Any sabotage by miscreants cannot be ruled out by allowing unauthorised people inside the premises of the water tank. NA has been made aware of such situation through social media but no visit by CEO or senior officers has been made to check and take remedial/preventive action to ensure that only authorised persons reside in the premises of water tank. Also, how unauthorised construction is allowed inside the restricted premises of a water tank by NA. Are they not aware of this?
Samvada has the photographs of such illegal construction, but due to security reason it is not published; only photos of water tank taken from outside are published as indicative .But having an unauthorised structure inside the water tank premises is a cause of concern not only to the residents but also for the NA. Safety, security, public health, cleanliness is obviously compromised.
As we pay for safe drinking water and have faith that we get clean pure water, Samvada has raised this concern for information of the residents who might have not even seen the water tanks premises in our sector.
