Senior Speaks
To continue with our regular column to share the practical experiences of senior citizens who have seen decades of changes, this month we met Arora ji R/o A-123 Def col since 1955, who was quite motivated and charged to share his views. Mr. Arora was born in Pakistan (Chiniot) and shifted to India in 1947 when his father was serving in the army in Japan. Mr. Arora is a qualified ICWA and has worked with many organisations, including IDTL, as the finance head for 23 years.
After his retirement, he was a known face in the colony as he served in various positions (treasurer, HGS, accountant) in RWA and clubs. His soft-spoken attitude and sharp mind were instrumental in creating various accounting procedures, including billing, balance sheets, bank accounts, and investment of surpluses in the banks. He has been quite satisfied with the developments in the colony (better water, electricity, clubbing, entertainment, etc.) and is looking forward to more facilities and security for the residents. He is also worried about the increasing construction activities in the colony, which create issues for the seniors to sleep in the afternoon.
