As usual, SBWS celebrated both these festivals in great style on 13th & 14th March in S Block Park.
This year, 2025, has a special significance in the history of SBWS, as this is the silver jubilee year of its registration as a society, though it came into existence in the early sixties.
The present managing committee has been looking after the affairs of the society with great dedication & transparency since 2015, winning elections after elections & getting elected unopposed since 2022.
A small splinter group, which lost many elections, is also running a small group in our block. They keep on announcing functions & cancelling most of those at the last minute, becoming a laughing stock of the residents.
SBWS has made great progress in the last ten years, & we keep on getting accolades from many residents from time to time.
With the huge support & generosity of 490+ members, both these events were celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm, religious fervor & a perfect blend of bonhomie & camaraderie.
More than five hundred residents participated on both days & enjoyed the vibrant colors, hues of the bonfire, celebrations with rose petals, the festive treats, and the joy of togetherness. A perfect blend of harmony amongst the members.
Holika Dahan: The chief guest for the evening was our SHO, Inspector Bhanu Partap Ji. The holy bonfire was lit at 7.20 pm, as per the mahurat, after conducting an elaborate Pooja by our Shiv mandir Pandit Ji. Since early morning, many ladies with family members were seen worshipping “Holika” by offering various items around the ensemble.
The ladies of the cultural committee of SBWS had done beautiful decorations around “Holika.”
After the fire was lit, Prasad packets containing “Guldana” & “Namak Paras” were distributed to around 300 people who had gathered around. Many residents enjoyed the bonfire till 11.00pm.
Holi Milan: A lot of groundwork had been done by the MCCC members over the past few days to make this Holi absolutely memorable.
The celebrations started at 10 am in our park, which was beautifully decorated.
Holi songs belted out by a DJ with a dance floor started the celebrations. Members started trooping in early & were greeted by MC CC members with flower petals & Chandan Tikka.
“Tandai” & Tasty Dahi Bhallas were served as the early starters.
Soon, there was a huge rush. Professional dancers dressed as “Radha Krishna, Gopis, & peacocks enthralled the members with perfect dance numbers. Many residents, especially ladies & young girls, joined them for dance numbers.
After these mesmerizing performances, top “Holi” Bollywood numbers were belted out, and people danced for the next two hours till they were dead tired.
Food counters opened up at 11:30 am. Around 525 residents enjoyed the yummy food, comprising of “Bedwai Kachori,” “Allo & Sithaphal” subzi, Pulao, & Kabuli Cholle, topped with Desi Moong Dal halwa.
