The Academic excellence award function to felicitate the toppers from S Block in 10th & 12 boards was held on Sunday, 28th May, 23 in the office of the SBWS.
This is the 7th Year running when this award function was organized by SBWS for the wards of its members.
The cut off percentage for these awards is 90%. Nine awards are given to the toppers of 12th boards & three prizes to the toppers of 10th Boards.
In addition, a special Prize is given to the student, who scores highest marks in Physics in 12th Boards.
This prize, being given for the last five years, is in the memory of Late KK Gupta, IAS 69 batch, by me, as his younger brother.
KK Gupta had done his MSc Physics from Delhi University in the year 1965 at the age of 20 Years & 09 months in first Division. He was appointed lecturer in ARSD College, DU, when he was just 20 Years & 10 months old. He used to teach BSc 1st year students. He got into IAS in the year 1969.
This year, however the number of students for these awards were quite less as it seems that students are not paying much attention to 12th & 10th boards.
Following students were selected for the awards this year; 12th Boards: Science team- Arsh Kalra, S 295 GF, 93.2%; Ekansh Sahu, S 149 FF, 92.8%; Commerce Stream- Niyati Rai-S 60 GF, 90%
Humanities Stream- Simer Mishra- S 489 FF,94.2%, Ramya Selot- S 478 GF-89.8%-Consolation Prize
10th Boards: Ayasya Gupta, S 55 FF-94.2%; Rajveer Nagrath, S 102 FF-93.2%; Akshit Panwar, S 340 SF-90.6%; KK Gupta Award for 12th Physics Topper- Arsh Kalra, S 295 GF.
Cash prizes of Rs.4000, 3000 & 2000 & beautiful certificates & green potted plants were awarded, to all the winners.
Chief guest for the evening was our Mukta Dutta Tomar, IFS 1984 batch. She is a resident of S 179. She has been India’s ambassador to several countries. She delivered a very inspiring speech for the young achievers.
